Police News Release - July 9th, 2026

Arrest Warrants

In the past 24 hours four individuals were arrested on the strength of their Warrants for Arrest. One was held for court in the morning while three were released via Appearance Notice with a future court date.

 

Protective Detention and Care of Intoxicated Persons Act (PDCIPA)

In the past 24 hours two individuals were arrested for PDCIPA and brought to Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells.  Each individual was released once they were sober and able to care for themselves safely.

 

Operation While Impaired / Operation Equal to or Exceeding 80 mgs%

On July 8th at 4:09 p.m., Brandon Police Service officers conducted a traffic stop involving an SUV on Wellington Drive. The driver, a 52-year-old woman, was found to be prohibited from driving. She provided a breath sample on an Approved Screening Device (ASD), which resulted in a "Fail" reading. She was arrested and transported to BPS headquarters, where further breath testing produced results of 130 mg% and 120 mg%.

The vehicle was towed and impounded for 30 days. The driver was also issued tickets for Driving While Disqualified, Failure to Produce a Driver's License, and Failure to Stop and Remain Stopped as Directed by Police.

She was later released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear in court on July 13th, 2026.
