Police News Release - July 28th, 2026

Breach of the Peace
In the past 24 hours two individuals were arrested for Breach of the Peace and held in Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells. They will be released once sober/calm.
Arrest Warrant
In the past 24 hours BPS members have executed three Arrest Warrants. Two were held for court in the morning while one was released via Appearance Notice with a future court date.
Protective Detention & Care of Intoxicated Persons Act
In the past 24 hours, one individual was arrested under the PDCIPA.
At approximately 11:07 p.m. on July 27, police responded to a disturbance near Hummingbird Gardens. Officers located a 43-year-old woman who was highly intoxicated, agitated, and yelling profanities at her 12-year-old son. The woman was extremely uncooperative with officers and was arrested under the PDCIPA. She was transported to BPS detention cells until sober. The child was turned over to the care of a sober relative.
Stolen Vehicle
On July 28th at 5:17 a.m., police received a report of a shoplifting incident at a gas station on Middleton Drive. During the investigation, officers determined that the license plate displayed on the suspect vehicle was registered to a Brandon resident. The registered owner confirmed that the vehicle had been stolen overnight. Both the shoplifting and the stolen vehicle incidents remain under investigation.
The suspect is described as a male wearing a red Crooks & Castles hoodie, black sweatpants, yellow work gloves, and black slide sandals. The vehicle is a 4 door 2011 black Mercedes SUV license plate KKS 455.

Uttering Threats / Failure to Comply Undertaking x2
On July 27th, 2026, at approximately 2:12 p.m., police received a report that a 38-year-old female had verbally threatened a 27-year-old known to her female while they were in a park on Princess Avenue. The suspect then ran toward the 27-year-old female. The victim was able to flee, and no physical contact occurred.
At approximately 4:15 p.m., officers located the suspect at another park. She was found to be in possession of a knife and a set of 3D-printed plastic brass knuckles. The woman was arrested and later released on an Appearance Notice. She is scheduled to appear in court on October 5th, 2026.
