Police News Release - July 21st, 2026

Arrest Warrants
Over the past 24 hours, two individuals were arrested on outstanding Warrants for Arrest. One individual was released on an Appearance Notice with a future court date, while the other was held in detention cells to appear before the court on the morning of July 21st, 2026.
Protective Detention and Care of Intoxicated Persons Act (PDCIPA)
In the past 24 hours two individuals were arrested for PDCIPA and brought to Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells. They will be released once sober and able to care for themselves safely.
Breach of the Peace
Over the past 24 hours, BPS responded to three separate incidents involving four individuals causing disturbances. In the first incident, two males were involved in a fight at a local hotel. In the second, an individual at a business in the 700 block of 10th Street, believed to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, stole a Gatorade and behaved aggressively toward staff and customers in the parking lot. The third incident involved a male who was crawling on the emergency department ramp at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. All four individuals were arrested for Breach of the Peace and brought to BPS detention cells to allow the situations to de-escalate and the disruptive behaviour to cease. They will be released once they are sober or calm and able to safely care for themselves.
Domestic Assault / Assault by Choking
On July 20th, 2026, at approximately 1:20 p.m., police responded to a report of a domestic assault in the 600 block of 10th Street. It was reported that a male had punched and choked his girlfriend. Upon police arrival, the suspect had fled the scene in a vehicle. The 19-year-old victim had visible signs of assault. Officers located the 24-year-old suspect a short time later in the same vehicle he had fled in and arrested him without incident. He was transported to BPS, where he was later released on an Undertaking with a court date of September 26th, 2026.
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine / Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime
On July 20, 2026, at approximately 3:51 p.m., police received a report of an unknown male sleeping on the porch of a residence in the 1400 block of Lorne Avenue. Officers attended and located the 52-year-old male. During the investigation, the male was found to be in possession of 14 small baggies of methamphetamine, a larger bag containing approximately five grams of methamphetamine, and $150 in cash. He was arrested and later released on an Undertaking with a court date of October 8th, 2026.
Domestic Assault
On July 20th, 2026, at approximately 5:49 p.m., police received a report of a fight in the 500 block of Richmond Avenue. It was reported that a female had been struck in the face by a male. Officers attended and determined that a 15-year-old male had assaulted his 16-year-old girlfriend. The suspect had fled the scene but was located a short time later by police. He was arrested and charged before being released on an Undertaking with conditions. Parents informed of incident. He is scheduled to appear in court on September 1st, 2026.
Domestic Assault
On July 20th, 2026, at approximately 7:38 p.m., police received a report of an assault in the 1100 block of 18th Street. The caller reported that a male had pushed a female to the ground, sat on her chest, and punched her in the face approximately five times. Officers attended and observed that the 20-year-old female victim had visible signs of an assault, including a swollen eye. The 25-year-old suspect had fled the scene on foot.
At approximately 9:33 p.m., officers located the accused in the 800 block of 24th Street and arrested him for Assault. He was brought to BPS detention cells and was scheduled to appear in court on the morning of July 21st, 2026.
