Police News Release - August 5th, 2026

Arrest Warrant

In the past 24 hours, Brandon Police Service members executed two arrest warrants. One individual was held in custody for court, while the second individual, who was also charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, was released on an Appearance Notice with a future court date.

 

Theft Under $5000

On August 4th at 8:58 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Braecrest Drive. The driver was identified as a 51-year-old male who was the subject of a warrant request in connection with the theft of a wallet and $210 on July 30th, 2026.

The male was arrested, charged, and later released on an Undertaking with a court date of October 14th, 2026.

 

Breach of the Peace

In the past 24 hours one individual was arrested at 11:15 p.m. for Breach of the Peace. The intoxicated 28-year-old female was brought to BPS detention cells and will be released in the morning on August 5th once sober.

 

Possession of a Weapon x2

On August 5th at 3:02 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop in the 800 block of 18th Street North. During the stop, a 23-year-old male passenger was found to be in possession of two weapons—a dagger and a knife—concealed in the pouch of his hoodie. The male was arrested and transported to Brandon Police Service for processing. He was later released on an Undertaking with a court date of October 15th, 2026.

 

Failure to Comply Probation / Resist Arrest

On August 4th at approximately 2:19 p.m., police were dispatched to Goldfinch Crescent following reports of an unknown male rummaging through residential garbage. When a resident asked the male to leave the area, he responded by threatening the resident with a knife before leaving the scene on a bicycle. Officers located the suspect a short time later. The 39-year-old male was found to be bound by a Probation Order that includes a condition prohibiting him from possessing weapons. At the time of his arrest, he was found to be in possession of a box cutter.

The suspect physically resisted arrest but was safely taken into custody. He was transported to Brandon Police Service detention cells and held for court on the morning of August 5th, 2026.
