Police News Release - August 26th, 2026

Theft Under $5000
On August 25th, 2026, police received a report of a cell phone theft that had occurred inside an apartment in the 200 block of 9th Street. The suspect denied taking the phone and refused to return it to its rightful owner. Video surveillance showed the 62-year-old female in possession of the device. Police located and arrested the female. She was later released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on October 29th, 2026.
Arrest Warrant
A 45-year-old male had turned himself in on a Warrant. The male is in Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells and will attend court this morning on August 26th, 2026.
Mischief Under $5000 / Possession of a Weapon
On August 26th at 1:42 a.m., police responded to a business alarm at a gas station in the 1200 block of 1st Street North. Officers found the front door glass had been smashed with a rock. Video surveillance provided suspect information, and the 31-year-old male was located a short time later in the 900 block of Pacific Avenue. During the arrest, officers found the male in possession of a folding knife. He was brought to BPS detention cells and will be released on an Undertaking once sober. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 5th, 2026.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered
On August 26th at approximately 4:01 a.m., police located a stolen vehicle near the Rosser Garden Apartments. The vehicle was unoccupied and was towed to BPS for further investigation. The registered owner was notified.
