Police News Release - August 25th, 2026

Breach of the Peace
In the past 24 hours one individual was arrested for Breach of the Peace and held in Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells. The 27-year-old male will be released once sober.
Arrest Warrant
In the past 24 hours, BPS officers executed four arrest warrants. Two individuals were arrested and held in custody at BPS for court this morning. One individual was arrested by BPS officers at Brandon Correctional Centre on the strength of an outstanding RCMP warrant and remained in custody at BCC for court this morning. A fourth individual was arrested and released on an Appearance Notice with a future court date.
Immediate Roadside Prohibition
On August 25th at 1:28 a.m., BPS officers conducted a traffic stop involving a vehicle in the 2900 block of Victoria Avenue. Officers suspected the 64-year-old male driver had been drinking, and he provided two roadside breath samples, failing both. The vehicle was towed and seized for 30 days, and the male driver received a 90-day license suspension.
Robbery with Violence
On August 24th at 10:01 p.m., BPS received a report that a female had been threatened with a knife and had $40 stolen from her. The suspects then attended a business on Rosser Avenue, where they purchased beverages and were located and arrested by police. A 38-year-old female and a 36-year-old male were arrested and brought to BPS detention cells. Both were held in custody and will attend court this morning on August 25th, 2026.
Theft Under $5000
On August 24th at 8:12 a.m., Brandon Police Service officers responded to a report of a male threatening customers at a business in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue, telling them he would beat them up. Police located the 46-year-old male suspect and determined he was also responsible for a theft of merchandise from a cannabis store the previous day. The intoxicated by drug male was arrested and brought to BPS detention cells. He will be released once sober on an Undertaking, with a future court date of November 2nd, 2026.
Theft Under $5000 x2
On August 17th, Brandon Police Service received a report that a male had attempted to steal approximately $2,000 worth of merchandise from a business in the 1600 block of 18th Street. Employees were able to recover the merchandise, but the suspect fled the scene and was not located. On August 24th, police received a report of a theft that had just occurred at the same store with the same suspect and vehicle. Moments later, a second call reported a motor vehicle collision at 1st Street and Aberdeen Avenue involving the suspect vehicle. The 26-year-old male was arrested at the scene and charged in relation to the two separate theft incidents. He failed to produce a driver’s license and confirmed that his driver’s license was suspended indefinitely. He was processed and later released on an Undertaking with a future court date of November 2nd, 2026. (No one in the motor vehicle accident was trapped or injured. No smoke or flames. Both vehicles involved were towed.)
