Police News Release - August 24th, 2026

Protective Detention & Care of Intoxicated Persons Act
In the past 24 hours, two individuals were arrested under the PDCIPA in connection with separate incidents. They were transported to Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells and will be released once they are sober.
Failure to Comply Court Order
On August 23rd, 2026, Brandon Police arrested a 30-year-old male after receiving information on August 22nd that he had breached a protection order (No contact) involving his 23-year-old ex-partner. The accused was located and arrested at a residence in the 1000 block of 26th Street. He was brought to BPS detention cells and held for court.
Failure to Comply Release Order
On August 24th at 1:19 a.m. police came across a 25-year-old male near a vendor in the 000 block of 10th Street who was known to have a 10:00 p.m. curfew. The male was arrested, brought to BPS detention cells, and held for court.
Theft Under $5000
On August 24th, 2026, while officers were at a business in the Corral Centre on an unrelated matter, they witnessed a male exiting the store as an employee chased him for stealing merchandise. Officers took the male into custody without incident. The intoxicated male had attempted to steal just under $100 worth of merchandise. He was brought to BPS detention cells and will be released on an Undertaking once sober. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 2nd, 2026.
