Police News Release - August 22, 2026
Possess Property Obtained by Crime
On August 21, 2026, shortly after 8:00 am, police conducted a traffic stop in the 2600 block of Victoria Ave. The 47-year-old male driver from Saskatoon was found to be suspended from driving and charged under the HTA accordingly, and his vehicle towed. Further investigation revealed he was in possession of unstamped tobacco, and stolen property including a passport. He was also breaching several release conditions. He was lodged and appeared in court. He was remanded into custody on charges of Possess Property Obtained by Crime and Fail to Comply with Release Order.
Firearm Charges
On August 21, 2026, shortly after 11:00 pm, police conducted a traffic stop in the 900 block of 26th street. A rifle was observed within the vehicle. The 35-year-old driver was arrested. Further investigation revealed he was also in possession of meth. He was later released to appear in court on November 2, 2026, on charges of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm, Careless Storage of Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of Firearm in Vehicle and Possess Meth.
Impaired Driver
On August 22, 2026, shortly before 2:00 pm, police conducted a vehicle stop in the 1100 block of 18th street in the parking lot of a business. The 19-year-old male driver provided samples of his breath but failed. His vehicle was towed and he received a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition. His 26-year-old male passenger was found to be wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant and arrested.
Arrest Warrants
Five other individuals were arrested on outstanding arrest warrants in the previous 24 hours during separate incidents.
Other arrests
Two individuals were arrested and lodged until sober due to their behavior after consuming drugs or alcohol during separate incidents.
