Police News Release - August 21, 2026

Breach of the Peace

In the past 24 hours three individuals from separate incidents were arrested for Breach of the Peace and held in Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells. They will all be released once sober.

 

Protective Detention & Care of Intoxicated Persons Act

In the past 24 hours, three individuals were arrested under the PDCIPA in connection with separate incidents. They were transported to BPS detention cells and will be released once they are sober.

 

Arrest Warrant

In the past 24 hours, five Arrest Warrants were executed. One individual was held in custody for court in the morning, and four were released with future court dates.

 

Assault with a Weapon / Possession of a Weapon

On August 20th at approximately 7:02 p.m., Brandon Police Service received a 911 call reporting that a 13-year-old female was attempting to stab an immediate family member with a knife at a residence in the 2900 block of Rosser Avenue. An additional family member intervened and contacted 911. Officers attended the residence and arrested the youth. The youth was processed at BPS and later released to a parent on an Undertaking. She is scheduled to appear in court on November 3rd, 2026.

 

Sexual Assault

On July 26th, a 25-year-old female reported being sexually assaulted several weeks earlier by a 39-year-old male at a residence in the 000 block of 3rd Street. The investigation determined the assault occurred on June 13th, 2026.

On August 20th, 2026, officers were able to locate and arrest the accused at the residence. He was taken to BPS for processing and an interview. The 39-year-old male was later released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on October 15th, 2026.

 

Failure to Comply Probation

On August 20th while attending a residence in the 1300 block of 7th Street for an unrelated matter, BPS officers located a 42-year-old male who was subject to court-ordered conditions prohibiting him from attending the residence. The male was arrested for Failure to Comply with a Court Order. He was later released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear in court on October 29th, 2026.
