Police News Release - August 19th, 2026

Breach of the Peace
In the past 24 hours, three individuals involved in separate incidents were arrested for Breach of the Peace and held in Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells. A 39-year-old intoxicated male was attempting to break into vehicles near 18th Street and Brandon Avenue. A 21-year-old intoxicated male was fighting and causing a disturbance with individuals inside a home in the 100 block of Louise Avenue. A 31-year-old intoxicated male was reported to be causing a disturbance at Princess Park. All three were brought to BPS detention cells and will be released once they are sober.
Protective Detention & Care of Intoxicated Persons Act
In the past 24 hours, three individuals were arrested under the PDCIPA in connection with separate incidents. They were transported to BPS detention cells and will be released once they are sober.
Assault x2
On August 18th at 7:41 p.m., a 26-year-old male attended his ex-partner’s residence on Cornell Bay for a child exchange, where they became involved in an argument and the male struck his former partner and their son. The male fled the residence prior to police arrival but later turned himself in at BPS. He was processed and subsequently released on an Undertaking with a future court date of October 26th, 2026.
Assault / Assault by Choking
On August 18th at 8:22 p.m., police were called to a residence in the 100 block of 5th Street following an argument between an ex-couple. During the argument, the male pushed the female to the ground and choked her. The 18-year-old male was arrested, processed, and subsequently released on an Undertaking with a future court date of October 29th, 2026.
Sexual Assault
On August 18th, police attended Brandon Regional Health Centre in response to a sexual assault complaint. A 26-year-old female reported being subjected the night prior to non-consensual relations by her partner, a 24-year-old male. The male was located shortly afterward, arrested, and charged. He was subsequently released on an Undertaking with a future court date of October 15th, 2026.
