Police News Release - August 13th, 2026

Breach of the Peace
On August 12th at 9:37 p.m. police were called to a disturbance on Cornell Bay due to an intoxicated female causing a scene and breaking things within a home. Police attended and found the 34-year-old highly intoxicated, verbally abusive and unable to care for herself female. She was arrested for Breach of the Peace and held in Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells. She will be released once sober in the morning.
Protective Detention & Care of Intoxicated Persons Act
In the past 24 hours, four individuals from separate incidents were arrested under the PDCIPA. The individuals will be released once sober in the morning.
Assault with Intent to Resist / Resist Arrest
On August 12th at 9:12 a.m., police were dispatched to the 400 block of Princess Avenue following a report of a suspicious person driving a possibly stolen quad. Shortly before that call, an officer patrolling the area was waved down and informed that a male was driving a quad erratically. The officer located the male on the quad and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver looked back, then accelerated away in an evasive manner before eventually abandoning the quad and fleeing on foot. The male was apprehended a short distance away and resisted arrest. During the arrest, the 36-year-old male shoved an officer and tried to grab the officer around the neck, causing a scratch and minor bleeding. The male was arrested, and the quad was located. Further investigation determined that the quad belonged to the male’s father and that he had permission to operate it. The reason for the evasive driving remains unclear.
The male was later released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear in court on October 26th, 2026.
Break and Enter
On August 12th at 11:17 p.m., police were called to an apartment building in the 1500 block of 26th Street following a report of a disturbance and sounds of screaming. The female was given a verbal warning to please quiet down.
At approximately 12:58 a.m., police received another complaint regarding the female, who was now reportedly in the hallway making noise and banging on apartment doors. Officers re-attended and learned that the female had kicked in the door of an apartment, causing damage, and had rummaged through the apartment before leaving.
The intoxicated 18-year-old female was located and arrested for break and enter and held in custody for court on the morning of August 13th, 2026.
