Police News Release - Aug 1st, 2026

Arrest Warrants
Over the past 24 hours, two individuals were arreted on outstanding Warrants for Arrest. Both individuals were released on Appearance Notices with future court dates.
Possess Weapon, Possess Drugs, Possess Stolen Property & Warrant
On July 31st, 2026, at 3:30pm officers conducted a pedestrian check on a 46-year-old male in the 1300 block of Victoria Ave, as he was carrying two bikes. The male was found to be Wanted on a warrant for failing to attend court and breaching his probation order. One of the bikes was confirmed to be stolen and subsequent to the male being arrested, he was found in possession of a quantity of drugs, blank cheques, and 3 throwing knives. The male was transported to BPS detention cells and held in custody to appear before the court on Aug 1st, 2026.
Breach of the Peace
Over the past 24 hours, BPS responded to seven separate incidents resulting in eight different individuals getting arrested for Breach of the Peace. The individuals were brought to BPS detention cells to allow the situations to de-escalate and the disruptive behaviour to cease. They will be released once they are sober or calm and able to safely care for themselves.
Protective Detention and Care of Intoxicated Persons Act (PDCIPA)
In the past 24 hours one individual was arrested for PDCIPA and brought to Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells. They will be released once sober and able to care for themselves safely.
Assault
On Aug 1st, at 4:36 a.m. police were called to an address in the 1000 block of 10th St, after a 27-year-old male had assaulted his girlfriend. No EMS was required. Police attended and the male was arrested on scene and charged with Assault. He was lodged in cells and later released via Undertaking with a future court date.
Released on future court dates
Over the past 24 hours, 2 females and one male were arrested in separate incidents for Uttering threats, Failing to comply with their Undertaking order, and Assault, respectively. All three were released with future court dates.
