Police News Release - April 28th, 2026

Breach of the Peace
In the past 24 hours five individuals were arrested due to Breach of the Peace. They were each brought to Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells to prevent the continuation of behaviour and will be released once sober/calm.
Protective Detention & Care of Intoxicated Persons Act (PDCIPA)
In the past 24 hours three individuals from separate incidents were arrested due to intoxication levels. They were held in BPS detention cells to be released once sober.
Arrest Warrants
In the past 24 hours three individuals were arrested on the strength of their Warrants for Arrest. Two were released via Appearance Notices with future court dates while one was held for court in the morning on April 28th, 2026.
Robbery with Violence
On April 27th at 8:12 p.m., police received a report from a witness stating that several girls had “jumped” and assaulted another female at the mall located in the 1500 block of 18th Street. Investigation determined that the victim, a 15-year-old female, had been lured to the mall under the pretense of meeting other girls to “hang out.” Upon arrival, she was assaulted by multiple suspects, who kicked and punched her before stealing her shoes. The investigation identified two suspects: a 14-year-old female and a 16-year-old female. Both were located, arrested, and charged in connection with the incident. They were later released to a parent on Undertakings and are scheduled to appear in court on July 7th, 2026. Emergency Medical Services attended to the victim at the scene and transported her to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Failure to Comply Probation x3
On April 27th at 11:01 p.m., police received a call notifying of a male and female fighting both inside and outside of an apartment in the 700 block of 6th Street.
Upon arrival, officers determined that a male was inside the residence despite being on conditions prohibiting him from attending the address or communicating with the homeowner. The 30-year-old male was located hiding in a bathroom. He was arrested and transported to BPS detention cells. He is scheduled to appear in court on the morning of April 28th, 2026.
Assault with Weapon / Assault
On April 28th, just after midnight, police were dispatched to a residence on Alaska Bay for a report of a physical altercation between two individuals inside one of the units. Upon arrival, officers determined that both parties had assaulted one another. During the incident, the 27-year-old female struck the 28-year-old male with a PlayStation 5. Both individuals sustained lacerations to the back of their heads. Both were arrested at the scene. The male will be released on an Undertaking once sober. The female was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on the morning of April 28th, 2026.
Operate Conveyance while Prohibited
On April 28th at 2:44 a.m. a traffic stop was conducted in the 400 block of 5th Street. The 27-year-old male operator of the vehicle was found to be prohibited from driving in Canada. Additional tickets were given for driving a vehicle not equipped with ignition interlock and driving an unregistered vehicle. The male was charged and later released via Appearance Notice with a future court date of July 2nd, 2026. The vehicle was towed.
