Police News Release - April 23rd, 2026

Theft Under $5000
On April 20th a male attended a store in the 3400 block of Victoria Avenue and stole approximately $80 worth of meat. He concealed it in his jacket before leaving the store. Video surveillance helped identify the individual from previous occurrences. On April 22nd he was located by Police, arrested, and later released via Under with a future court date of July 2nd, 2026.
Arrest Warrants
In the past 24 hours two individuals were arrested on the strength of their Warrants for Arrest. Both were held for court.
Disobey Court Order x2/ Criminal Harassment
On April 22nd at 7:21 a.m. Police attended a residence in the 400 block of 22nd Street to remove a male who was on court orders not to attend the residence or have contact with his ex that lives there. It was learned that the accused has been constantly attempting to communicate with her and has attended the residence multiple times. The 37-year-old male had left prior to Police arrival but was soon located at his residence where he was arrested. He was later released on an Appearance Notice with a court date of June 4th, 2026.
Endorsed Warrant for Arrest / New Charges
On April 22nd just after noon, Police were called to a business in the 4800 block of Victoria Avenue East after three men were reported on the property, one of whom was believed to be a suspect in an earlier break and enter. Two of the men left the scene in a taxi but were quickly stopped by police and identified, while the third man was said to have left on foot westbound. At approximately 12:36 p.m., officers spotted the suspect who then headed into a tree-lined area near the river, prompting police to establish a perimeter and deploy the K9 unit. Following an extensive search in semi-flooded conditions, the 48-year-old suspect was located but refused to surrender; he was ultimately apprehended, with the suspect, officer, and police dog all becoming soaked during the arrest. A stolen toolbox was recovered in the area and linked to both the suspect and the earlier break and enter. The man was taken to hospital for medical clearance. He was later arrested and held in custody to appear in court on the morning of April 23rd, 2026.
