Police News Release - April 17th, 2026

Arrest Warrants

In the past 24 hours six individuals were arrested on the strength of their Warrants for Arrest. Three were held in custody to attend court in the morning, two were released via Appearance Notice and one via Undertaking with future court dates. 

Breach of the Peace

In the past 24 hours three individuals were arrested for Breach of the Peace. They were brought to Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells and will be released once sober/calm.

Theft Under $5000

On April 16^th, officers located and identified a 27-year-old male suspect wanted in connection with a theft that occurred on April 13^th at a grocery store in the 3400 block of Victoria Avenue. The suspect had stolen approximately $480 worth of meat. He was located in the 100 block of 7th Street, arrested, and later released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date of June 11^th, 2026.

Breach of Probation

On April 16^th police attended a residence on Queens Crescent for a report of a fight. A 24-year-old female was found to be the cause of the disturbance as she was intoxicated and attempting to fight with family. The female is on probation to abstain. The female was arrested and taken to BPS detention cells. She will be released on an Appearance Notice once sober. A future court date of June 25^th, 2026 has been scheduled.

Possession of a Weapon & Failure to Comply

On April 16^th at 6:36 p.m., police received reports of a male attempting to provoke fights by yelling profanities at pedestrians near the entrance of a business in the 1500 block of 18th Street. Officers attended and located the 38-year-old male, who was found to be highly intoxicated. The male was arrested and found to be in possession of a throwing knife in his pants pocket, contrary to his conditions prohibiting possession of weapons. The male was brought to BPS detention cells and held for court in the morning. He faces charges of Possession of a Weapon, Failure to Comply Probation, and Failure to Comply Release Order.

Immediate Roadside Prohibition

On April 17^th at 3:55 a.m. police received a report of a vehicle that had stopped in the middle of a parking lot. The vehicle was said to be running, and the driver and passenger appeared to be passed out. Police attended and located the vehicle at a secondary location nearby, parked and running. The driver, a 42-year-old male, failed the ASD (Approved Screening Device) twice. He was issued a 90-day license suspension and a 30-day vehicle impoundment.
