In 2024, the Federal Government announced financial support to develop a Housing Design Catalogue for up to 50 designs to simplify and accelerate housing approvals and builds. In 2025, the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) released the initial catalogue with final architectural design packages. This included the final renderings, floor plan layouts, and key building details as part of the Housing Design Catalogue, providing a head start for homeowners, builders, and communities in their planning processes. The designs were developed by regional architecture and engineering teams and focused on creating gentle density and infill development in existing neighbourhoods in all regions of the country, including Manitoba. The Saskatchewan/Manitoba catalogue can be found here: Link CMHC will be hosting webinars about the Housing Design Catalogue where attendees can learn about the overview of the Housing Design Catalogue, the types of designs available as part of comprehensive technical packages, and supporting documents like costing guides, site planning, accessibility, and building performance. The English webinar will be on Tuesday, November 24, 2026, 12:00pm-1:00pm Eastern/Manitoba, and the French webinar will be on Wednesday, November 25, 2026, 12:00pm-1:00pm Eastern/Manitoba.
