Flood Update - July 16, 2026
As of 9:00 a.m., the Assiniboine River level at 1st Street was 1178.28 feet.
While last night's thunderstorm caused a temporary, minor rise in river levels due to localized rainfall, the river has since resumed its downward trend.
City crews are currently managing rainwater that accumulated within Brandon's dike system. This is an expected part of our flood response operations and exactly why pumps are strategically deployed throughout the city. Pumping operations are underway at the Kirkcaldy and Patteson outfalls, along with several other key locations, and will continue until the excess rainfall has been removed.
Crews continue to monitor all flood protection infrastructure across the city.
We are awaiting the Province's updated flood forecast to determine whether the recent rainfall has had any impact elsewhere in the watershed and if any forecast changes are expected for Brandon.
Thank you to residents for your continued patience and cooperation. Please continue to stay away from flood waters, pumping operations, and active work zones so crews can safely complete their work.
