Flood Recovery Update – August 4, 2026

As of 7:00 a.m. today the Assiniboine river level is now 1171.60 feet, meaning it is now slightly below flood stage. At this river level drying has begun in some low-lying areas, allowing access for City crews to complete damage assessments and develop cleanup and debris removal plans.

As of this morning, the Red Willow Pathway has re-opened. Dinsdale and Queen Elizabeth Parks will remain closed until debris removal, cleanup, structure repair, and roadway work is completed.

Heavy equipment will begin moving to location for the removal of the Grand Valley Road temporary dike closure later today, with removal efforts anticipated to begin this week.

Our intent is to reopen these spaces as soon as possible, but it will take some time to complete the work and make these areas safe once again. We ask residents to continue to respect these closures and be patient as crews work to complete these recovery efforts. We appreciate your cooperation and support throughout this flood event.

Please continue to monitor the City of Brandon's social media channels for the latest flood recovery updates.
