City Council Accepting Applications to the Brandon Police Board

Brandon, MB  - City Council will be considering the following citizen appointments for a four-year term:

• Brandon Police Board - 5 positions starting November 2026

Eligibility requirements

1. is at least 18 years of age;
2. is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident; and
3. resides or is employed in, or has a business interest in, the municipality in question or another area in which the police service provides policing services.

The following persons may not be appointed to a municipal police board:

1. a judge of the Court of King's Bench or The Court of Appeal;
2. a provincial judge or justice of the peace;
3. a member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba or of the Senate or House of Commons of Canada; or
4. a current or former member of the police service for which the police board is responsible.

Applications must be accompanied by:

• a Certified Criminal Record Check based on the submission of fingerprints, and;
• a Child Abuse Registry Self Check Application for the province of Manitoba

Associated costs will be reimbursed to successful appointees. 

NOTE: Appointees must be willing and able to commit the time necessary to properly fulfill their responsibilities on the Board, including preparing for, attending, and participating at all scheduled Board meetings. The Brandon Police Board meets at City Hall a minimum of six times per year on Fridays, 11:45 a.m. - 3 p.m.
