December 18, 2014

Brandon, MB – A free, safe bus ride to and from your New Year’s Eve party awaits you, thanks to the efforts of Brandon Transit and its generous community sponsors!

From 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31st (New Year’s Eve) to 3 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1st (New Year’s Day), Brandon Transit will run its buses on a regular modified (hourly) service. During those hours, it will be absolutely free to get on or off the bus at any of those route’s designated stops.

“Brandon Transit is happy to offer this annual, free service to those in our community whose festivities take them out and about on New Year’s Eve,” said Timothy Sanderson, Director of Transportation Services with the City of Brandon. “Anything we can do to reduce potentially unsafe behaviour on a night reserved for happy celebration is worth it for us!”

As many revellers are on the go while making New Year’s Eve plans, Brandon Transit makes it easy to plan your ride right from your mobile device with the Google Transit Web Service! To plan your NYE travel route or for more information on Brandon Transit’s regular modified service routes, visit www.brandontransit.ca.

Once again supporting Brandon Transit’s efforts as the New Year’s Eve Transit program sponsor is Manitoba Public Insurance. Manitoba Public Insurance is committed to reducing alcohol-related collisions, deaths and injuries, and providing the New Year's Eve transit service in Brandon makes perfect sense.

“We encourage people to plan ahead and make the right decision,” said MaryAnn Kempe, Vice-President, Business Development, Communications & Chief Product Officer, Manitoba Public Insurance. “If you drink, don’t drive. There are options to get home safely - take advantage of the transit buses.”

Brandon Transit also thanks its local media partners 880 CKLQ/94.7 Star FM, 96.1 BOB FM/101.1 The Farm, and the Brandon Sun for their assistance in promoting this important public service to the community.
