Christmas Lights To Twinkle In Brandon Beginning Dec.1st

December 1, 2014

Brandon, MB – The Power Smart Waterfall of Lights Display gets its seasonal debut tonight!

The dazzling display of holiday lighting is located immediately west of the City of Brandon’s Community Services Complex on McGregor Avenue. Beginning tonight, the display will be turned on and remain lit from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. nightly through the winter season.

The public is encouraged to park in designated areas on McGregor Avenue or Hilton Avenue and walk through the area to view the lights. NO public vehicles are allowed in the direct area of the Power Smart Waterfall of Lights display.

Flooding to prepare the City of Brandon’s public skating oval began late last week, with this week’s cold snap likely to help that process along. However, until the oval is ready, the warming shacks and outdoor washroom facilities at the oval will remain closed to the public. Barricades will be in place and the public is asked to refrain from skating or walking on the ice surface.

Christmas lighting in Sir Winston Churchill Park will also be turned on this evening, though the warming shack at Hanbury Hill will not be open for public use until there is more snow cover on the sledding hill.

Cross-country ski trails at the Wheat City Golf Course and at Canada Games Park will be available to the public later this month, weather-permitting.
