Media Release for August 21st, 2023

Possession of Weapon

On the morning of 2023-08-20, police attended to the 2000 block of Brandon Avenue for a report of a suspicious male.  A 25-year-old male was found to be in possession of a large knife and a check of police records revealed him to be bound by a court order which prohibits him from possessing weapons.  The male has been released with conditions to appear in court 2023-10-30 for the charges of Possession of a Weapon and Breach of Probation.

Fire

On 2023-08-20, at 10:24 pm members of BPS and BFES responded to a report of a fire involving a camper and business in the 800 block of Assiniboine Avenue.  The structure was found to be an auto-body business which sustained damage to the west side of the building and the fire is believed to have originated from the camper.  The origin and cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Fire

On 2023-08-21, at 01:08 am members of BPS and BFES responded to a report of a fire at a residence in the 200 block of Rideau Street.  The fire was believed to have originated from a bed of one of the residents.  No injuries were sustained to any of the occupants.  The origin and cause of the fire is still under investigation.
