Stolen Vehicle – Recovered

At 1:45 PM Saturday Police received a call of a vehicle that had just been stolen from a driveway on 16th St E in Brandon. The owner went outside, started his vehicle and then went back inside to give it time to warm up. When he came back out the 2007 Toyota Camry was gone. At the time of the call the owner did report seeing a suspicious female in the area when he went out to start the car. He was able to provide a physical description of her, including her clothing.  At 3:55 PM an officer on patrol spotted the vehicle travelling southbound in the 600 block of 13th St. The officer followed the vehicle to the back lane between 13th and 14th in the 700 block where he observed two people to exit from the stolen car. The officer apprehended the driver on foot and arrested her. The driver matched the description of the suspicious female seen prior to the theft of the vehicle. The 28-year-old Brandon female will appear in court charged with theft of motor vehicle. The investigation revealed the passenger had just been picked up by the accused and he was not involved in the theft. He was released without charge.

Utter Forged Document Arrest Warrant Executed

On November 24 2019, Police received a report of a female that had cashed a winning $365 ticket from its VLT machine, and the ticket proved later to be forged. The suspect was recorded on the video system within the business completing the transaction. Officers were able to identify the 38-year-old Brandon female from the video. After numerous attempts to have her turn herself in to Police, a warrant for her arrest was issued. At 12:50 PM Saturday the female was located in the 500 block of 21st St while officers responded to an unrelated call or service. The female was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear in court on Sunday morning. This is the second arrest regarding this type of offense at the same business. Last week Police arrested a 31-year-old Brandon male, believed to be in a relationship with the female arrested yesterday, completing the same type of offense with a ticket valued at $425.50. That ticket also proved later to be forged. He was released with a court date of March 2nd.

Vehicle Pursuit

At 3:00 AM this morning an officer on patrol observed a 2015 Chev 1500 traveling in the 300 block of 15th St. The vehicle had no licence plate and had a towel covering a broken rear passenger window. Members were aware that the vehicle matched the description of a truck stolen in Carberry on December 7th 2019. The officer caught up to the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop at 24th St and Victoria Ave, however the driver refused to stop and fled westbound on Victoria Ave. The driver failed to stop, running a stop sign at Victoria and then a red light at 34th and Victoria Ave before leaving the City on Hwy 1A toward Kenmay. The suspect continued westbound at one point reaching a speed of 165 km/h. Given the pursuit did not meet any traffic whatsoever the pursuit was continued by members of the Brandon Police Service. The suspect left the highway and headed south on secondary roads and then westbound again toward Alexander MB. The pursuit culminated when the suspect drove over a set of railway tracks while attempting to evade police and all four tires were deflated. Officers arrested the 30-year-old male driver from Rapid City MB at the scene. Once identified he was found to be currently on Probation having been convicted of two previous incidents where he led Police on high-speed chases. He has been charged with Dangerous Driving, Possession of the Stolen Property (the truck), Flight from Police, Resist Arrest and Breach of Probation. He was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear for a bail hearing later this morning.

The passenger of the stolen truck was a 34 year old female from Erickson MB. She was arrested for Possession of Stolen Property, and was lodged at the Correctional Centre. She will be released later this morning with a court date of March 2nd.
