Street Lights
The City of Brandon’s street light program is designed to improve the safety of motorists and pedestrians along City streets during periods of darkness or low light conditions. City streets are illuminated by one of two types, Overhead Street lights or Ornamental Street lights.
Overhead street lights are installed and maintained by Manitoba Hydro under the authorization of the City of Brandon. While the City funds the installation and operation of overhead street lights, the structures are owned by Manitoba Hydro.
Ornamental street lights which are typically found in the downtown core area, as well as lighting along the Riverbank walkways, are owned and operated by the City of Brandon.
Community and homeowner safety is a priority for the City of Brandon. Due to the extensive lighting network within our community, citizens are encouraged to report repair needs to ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians along City streets is maintained at night.

When reporting an outage, please be prepared to provide the following information:
- Your name, and phone number
- The location (nearest civic address or intersection) of the street light that is being reported.
