City of Brandon 2015 Water Main Cleaning Program

June 29, 2015

Brandon, MB – The City of Brandon’s Sewer and Water Department wishes to advise the public that its seasonal water main cleaning program has begun. The routine flushing process is conducted each year to maintain water quality along the distribution system. The program began on June 22nd and is scheduled to run until early November.

Crews will spend the next few weeks in the area from Victoria Avenue north to Pacific Avenue, between 26th Street and Governors Road, Dominion Bay and Otter Bay. Additional areas will be publicized as crews complete work in the above areas.

Water main cleaning will be conducted between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday. Please watch for signs on either end of the street on the morning of water main cleaning in your area. To avoid complications, residents are asked not to run their water or flush their toilet while water main cleaning is occurring on their street. If discoloured water is drawn while City crews are flushing an area, residents are encouraged to run their taps until the water becomes clear.

If discoloured water continues to be drawn from the tap more than a few hours after flushing, please contact the City of Brandon Sewer and Water Department during business hours at 204-729-2285.

The City of Brandon thanks the public for its cooperation during this important maintenance of the water distribution system.
