Parking Restrictions To Be Put In Place Along Stretch of 9th Street

June 4, 2015

Brandon, MB – The City of Brandon’s Engineering Department wishes to advise the public that as of Monday, June 8th, 2015, a full parking restriction will be in place on both sides of 9th Street, from Richmond Avenue to Maryland Avenue. NO PARKING on either side of the road will be allowed at any time. Permanent signage will be put in place, with infractions resulting in vehicle towing.

Based on a number of concerns, a recent engineering assessment was conducted and determined that the available roadway is not wide enough to accommodate safe parking. Therefore, parking restrictions will be permanent until the stretch of roadway can be upgraded to include proper curbing and the necessary improvements to underground drainage can be made. Design work and the budgeting of funds for this work will be forthcoming. In the short term, improvements to the delineation of the bike/walking path along this stretch of roadway will be considered.

The City of Brandon thanks all motorists and area residents in advance for their cooperation in observing these parking restrictions.
