2022 Municipal Election Candidate Nominations Now Being Accepted

Brandon, MB – The Senior Election Official wishes to advise that the official nomination period for those intending to run for the position of Mayor, City Councillor or School Trustee in the October 26th municipal election begins today, Wednesday, September 14th and runs until the end of business day on Tuesday, September 20th. 

A full list of candidate nomination requirements can be found online at brandon.ca/candidate-info/candidate-registration-info. Candidates intending to file nomination papers are encouraged to book an appointment with Senior Elections Official Heather Ewasiuk by calling 204-729-2206 to ensure their nomination documentation can be processed prior to the above deadline. 
 
Potential voters in Brandon will also want to note that the deadline to ensure their name is on the official Voters List is also Tuesday, September 20th. Even though you may have been on the Voters List for the City of Brandon in the past, if you rent your home, are new to Brandon or have changed addresses recently, please call 204-729-2206 to ensure your name is on the Voters List. 

In addition to Election Day on October 26th, advance voting opportunities will be made available on October 12, 20, and 22 at Brandon City Hall. An eligible voter may also apply to vote by sealed envelope if they have reason to believe that they will be unable to vote at their regular Voting Place on Election Day or during Advance Voting opportunities. Citizens who are interested in applying to be Election Day workers are encouraged to visit brandon.ca/notices-2022/election-workers-needed and fill out an online application form. Paid positions are currently being sought for the roles of voting place supervisor, issuing official, and voting official at the various polling locations. Applicants will be required to successfully complete 2.5 hours of basic election official training and must also sign an Oath of Confidentiality. Successful applicants must be available to work the entire day on Wednesday, October 26th and will be paid for a full day, plus training. Please note that submitting an online application to work as an election official does not guarantee selection.
