Public Hearing Regarding Borrowing By-Law No. 7338 To Pay For The Southwest Brandon Wastewater Servicing Project

Brandon, MB – The Council of the City of Brandon, at its regular meeting to be held in the Council Chambers, City Hall (2nd Floor), 410 – 9th Street, Brandon, on Monday, July 18, 2022, at 7:00 p.m., will hold a public hearing to consider the following proposal to borrow $30,000,000.00 (Thirty Million Dollars) to pay for: 

  • The construction of new wastewater infrastructure and system upgrades for the City to provide wastewater servicing for southwest Brandon. 

 

The total estimated project cost of $30,000,000.00 will be funded by borrowing, and the borrowing will be repaid over 20 years at a maximum interest rate of 7.50% per year. The annual repayment amount will be no more than $2,942,765.75, to be levied through water utility rates on a per cubic meter basis.

Southwest Brandon Wastewater Servicing Project 

The City has determined the southwest area will be a focus for residential and commercial growth. New wastewater infrastructure is needed to support continued development.  

The existing area wastewater network is nearing capacity; lift station(s) are required to direct the wastewater to the nearest acceptable location, and to overcome topographic challenges with the desired service area.
