Municipal And School Board Elections 2022

April 29, 2022

Brandon, MB – General municipal elections are held every four years on the fourth Wednesday in October. The City of Brandon’s Legislative Services Department and the Senior Election Official (SEO) has released an online resource available at brandonvotes.ca for this fall’s municipal election.

This year, the community of Brandon elects its mayor and councillors, along with the Brandon School Division board of trustees, on Wednesday, October 26th, 2022.

City of Brandon SEO Heather Ewasiuk encourages all members of the public to visit brandonvotes.ca and familiarize themselves with the municipal election process and the key dates along the way. Prospective mayor and councillor candidates will find out how to register as a candidate, how to navigate the registration and nomination process, as well as a listing of all the important campaign finance rules.

“This election is an opportunity for Brandon residents to participate in building a strong, healthy and sustainable local government,” notes Ewasiuk. “I encourage all interested candidates and voters to become familiar with the election process. As we get closer to the fall election, more information about registered candidates, advanced voting opportunities and Election Day voting places, will be shared with all members of the public.”

Information For Voters

While the municipal election is still months away, one of the important steps in ensuring a smooth election is an up-to-date Voters List. This is a key piece in ensuring that all eligible individuals can vote in their ward. If an individual has recently moved to Brandon, rents their home, or has changed addresses recently, they are encouraged to call 204-724-2654 or email brandonvotes@brandon.ca to ensure their name is on the voters list. Revisions will be accepted to the voters list until September 20th, 2022.
