December 20, 2021

Brandon, MB – The City of Brandon’s Solid Waste Section wishes to advise residents of the Christmas tree drop-off locations and recycling tips for the holiday season.

Christmas Tree Drop-Off at the Keystone Centre

The Christmas tree drop-off will be located at the South end of the Keystone Centre, entrance off 18th Street at Queens Avenue. Residents will see the location on the west side of the road. Drivers are asked to follow the signage provided. The drop-off depot is open 24 hours a day and will be open until Friday, January 14, 2022.

Any trees needing to be disposed of after January 14th should be taken to the Eastview Landfill Site, located at 765 33rd Street East.

Recycling Tips for the Holiday Season

  1. Purchase gifts that require less packaging
  2. Remember that not all packaging is recyclable; bubble wrap and Styrofoam should go in your garbage bin
  3. Remove items from cardboard boxes and break them down to create more space in your bin
  4. Do not stuff your bin full as it may not be released during the dumping process
  5. Use an old newspaper to wrap gifts
  6. Take all oversized packaging to the recycling depot locations in the city
  7. Give experiences as a gift to help reduce waste, such as tickets, gift cards, memberships, or a trip to the spa
  8. Reuse old gift wrap, bags, tissue paper and use old cards as gift tags
  9. Use old shoe boxes, glass jars and cookie tins as a container for a gift
  10. Consider donating to a local charity in lieu of a more traditional gift
  11. Buy items that can be reused several times
  12. Clear space in your closet by donating clothing to a charity
