City of Brandon Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination And Testing Policy

Brandon, MB – Following the intent of Provincial Government Public Health Orders, the City of Brandon is announcing an update regarding the mandatory COVID-19 vaccination and testing policy for many front-line staff. 

Effective November 1, 2021, the City of Brandon is implementing a Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination And Testing Policy for all City of Brandon employees who have direct and ongoing or prolonged contact with vulnerable populations.  

This includes front-line staff working in the following city departments: 

  • Brandon Fire & Emergency Services  
    (front-line staff have been following the Province of Manitoba’s Orders Requiring Vaccination or Testing for Designated Persons, which came into effect on Monday, October 18, 2021.) 
  • Brandon Municipal Cemetery  
  • Brandon Police Service  
  • Brandon Transit 
  • Recreation Services 

 

All front-line employees (as indicated above) working with the vulnerable population will be required to undergo regular testing unless they are fully vaccinated. 

Brandon Municipal Airport employees falls under federal jurisdiction and will be required to follow the Federal vaccine mandate, which comes into effect October 30, 2021.  

As it has since the outset of its response to this global pandemic, the City of Brandon adheres to a high level of COVID-19 prevention protocols in its workplaces and public spaces, including, but not limited to: mandatory handwashing/sanitizing upon entrance to all civic facilities, the installation of plexiglass barriers at all public service counters, the establishment of safe physical distancing protocols in its facilities, mandatory face coverings, and extra cleaning of commonly-touched surfaces.
