City of Brandon Partner Agency Confirms Employee Tests Positive For COVID-19

Brandon, MB – To be fully transparent and out of an abundance of caution, the City of Brandon is confirming that an employee of a partner agency has tested positive for COVID-19.

The partner agency shares office space within the Brandon Police Service building. The partner agency employee last worked on Friday, November 20th, 2020. The partner agency employee began to experience symptoms on Sunday, November 22nd, 2020 and was tested on Tuesday, November 24th, 2020. The partner agency employee had no contact with the public and contact tracing is ongoing.

Areas within the Brandon Police Service building visited by the partner agency employee are being deep cleaned today, Monday, November 30th, 2020.  The Brandon Police Service continues with its daily cleaning and sanitizing process, which includes all areas of the Police Service building.

Public Health and the partner agency employee have been in contact. The partner agency employee is self-isolating at home as per the guidance of Manitoba Public Health.

The City of Brandon wishes the partner agency employee a safe and speedy recovery.

As it has since the outset of its response to this global pandemic, the City of Brandon adheres to a high level of COVID-19 prevention protocols in its workplaces and public spaces, including, but not limited to: mandatory handwashing/sanitizing upon entrance to all civic facilities, the installation of plexiglass barriers at all public service counters, the establishment of safe physical distancing protocols in its facilities, mandatory face coverings, and extra cleaning of commonly-touched surfaces.
