City of Brandon Confirms Positive COVID-19 Case In Its Workforce

November 18, 2020

Brandon, MB – To be fully transparent and out of an abundance of caution, the City of Brandon confirms that an employee of the corporation has recently tested positive for COVID-19. This represents the fourth positive case of COVID-19 confirmed within the municipality’s workforce since the City of Brandon identified its first staff case on August 13th, 2020.

The impacted employee works within the Sanitation section and was identified through close contact of another person who tested positive for COVID-19.

The exposure happened on November 7th, 2020. The employee last worked on November 13, 2020 and was tested on November 15th. The employee had daily contact with the public at the Scale Building of the Eastview Landfill. This contact included the exchanging of money. The scale building will be deep cleaned November 18, 2020. If you visited the scale between November 9th – 13th, you are asked to self-monitor for symptoms.

Public Health and the employee have been in contact, and Public Health states that there is a low possibility of any potential spread at this time.

The employee does not have any symptoms, but is self-isolating at home as per the guidance of Manitoba Public Health and Occupational Health.

The City of Brandon wishes the employee a safe and speedy recovery.
