Eastview Landfill Continuing on Winter Hours of Operation

March 27, 2020

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brandon, MB – The City of Brandon’s Sanitation Section wishes to advise the public that, due to the municipality’s ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Eastview Landfill will remain operating on winter hours UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. This means hours of operation at the Eastview Landfill will remain Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and CLOSED on Sundays and Statutory Holidays until such a time that a switch to summer hours can be considered.

The City of Brandon would like to take this opportunity to remind the public that, while the Landfill’s administration office is closed to the public, other areas of the landfill  - wood waste, yard waste, metal, tires, the refuse tipping face and the Material Recycling Facility (MRF) -  remain OPEN! However, in order to reduce the potential for direct product handling by our landfill staff, the public is asked to hold off on dropping off any household hazardous waste, E-waste & used oil products for the time being, if possible! Please DON'T throw such items into your refuse/recycling/compost bins – please continue to store them at your home until such a time they can be brought in again.

General questions about Eastview Landfill operations during the City of Brandon’s continued pandemic response can be directed to 204-729- 2281.

Meanwhile, a start date for the 2020 Green Cart Program has yet to be determined. In the interim, program participants are encouraged to access any of the community’s compost depots, a full list of which can be found at http://www.brandon.ca/sanitation/collection/green-cart-program/compost-depots.
