City of Brandon 2019 Spring Street Sweeping Program Well Underway

April 18, 2019

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brandon, MB – The City of Brandon’s Streets and Roads Section would like to advise the public that its annual spring sweeping program to clean streets and boulevards of winter debris officially began earlier this week.

Daytime street sweeping crews have started cleaning streets this week in Residential Zone “F”, as identified on the City of Brandon’s online street sweeping map. These are the same residential zones as those established for the City of Brandon’s winter snow-clearing operations. Street sweeping in subsequent residential zones will be scheduled in the coming days, with crews taking into account the established sanitation collection schedule. Residents are encouraged to check the online map regularly to see when street sweepers are scheduled to be in their area. Wherever possible, temporary “No Parking” signage will be put in place 24 hours ahead of scheduled street sweeping occurring. As per City of Brandon Traffic By-law No. 5463 (Part 3, Section 37), vehicles parked in these signed areas may be subject to a ticket and/or tow.

In addition to the above mentioned daytime work, overnight street sweeping operations in the City’s downtown are scheduled for Princess, Rosser and Pacific Avenues from 1st Street to 18th Street, beginning at 12 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23rd. Overnight work in this area will continue through the week next week until these streets are completed.

As the City of Brandon's residential spring street sweeping program includes the process of sweeping winter sanding debris off boulevards and City right-of-ways (which may include fronts of lawns if there is no boulevard), residents can minimize the potential for any property damage by clearly flagging any underground sprinkler systems that may be present.

More information about the City of Brandon’s Spring Street Cleanup Program is available by calling the Streets and Roads Section at 204-729-2290.
