City of Brandon Spring Street Sweeping Program Now Underway

April 25, 2018

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brandon, MB – The City of Brandon’s Streets and Roads Section would like to advise the public that its spring sweeping program to clean streets and boulevards of winter debris has begun.

Daytime street sweeping crews are currently working through neighbourhoods in Brandon’s North Hill area (Residential Zone “C”) this week. Concurrently, street sweeping operations in the City’s downtown are scheduled for Princess, Rosser and Pacific Avenues from 1st Street to 18th Street overnight on Thursday, April 26th and Friday, April 27th (12 a.m. to 8 a.m.).

Once those areas are complete, crews will then move through the remaining residential areas one by one using the same residential zones as those established within the City of Brandon’s winter snow-clearing operations. Residents are encouraged to check the City of Brandon’s online street sweeping map, which can be viewed at https://gisapp.brandon.ca/webmaps/streetsweeping/index.html#, to see when street sweepers are scheduled to be in their area, and to park off-street wherever possible during these hours.

In some areas where it is deemed necessary by Streets and Roads staff, temporary “No Parking” signage may be put in place to allow for sweeping to occur. As per City of Brandon Traffic By-law No. 5463 (Part 3, Section 37), vehicles parked in these signed areas may be subject to a ticket and/or tow.

As the department’s residential spring street sweeping program includes the process of sweeping winter sanding debris off boulevards and City right-of-ways (the first few feet of lawn if there is no boulevard), residents can minimize the potential for any property damage by clearly flagging any underground sprinkler systems that may be present.

More information about the City of Brandon’s Spring Street Cleanup Program is available by calling the Streets and Roads Section at 204-729-2290.
