City of Brandon Streets & Roads Spring ‘Clean Sweep’ Campaign Now Complete

June 20, 2017

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brandon, MB – The City of Brandon’s Streets and Roads Section is pleased to announce that its city-wide spring street sweeping blitz, which began in mid-April, is now complete. Over the past approximately 2 months, all streets maintained by the City of Brandon received service by a street sweeping machine to rid them of gravel, sand and other debris left behind by the City’s numerous snow clearing efforts of last winter.

This year, Streets and Roads crews hauled away the equivalent of approximately 328 tandem truck loads of gravel, sand and debris from city streets and boulevards! That’s 56% more than the approximately 210 tandem truck loads of material gathered from sweeping efforts in the spring of 2016 and is an indication of the increased level of sanding service required during the 2016/2017 winter snowfall season.

Individuals who feel their street or a section of their street may have been missed during the spring street sweeping campaign may contact the City of Brandon Streets & Roads Section by calling 204-729-2285 or by filling out an online form at http://www.brandon.ca/report-an-issue. Street sweeping maintenance will also continue over the summer in “hot spot” areas such as those that are susceptible to having heavy tree cover result in tree seeds and debris collecting around catch basins.

City of Brandon Streets and Roads crews will also continues efforts this summer on pothole repair, crack filling on streets, street repair where sewer and water excavation work has been done, and dust control in back lanes and on gravel roads.
