Annual Music in The Park Program Hits Opening Note June 6th

Brandon, MB – There’s always reason to tap your toes in Brandon’s Princess Park during the summer, thanks to the eclectic FREE music programming offered each year by the City of Brandon’s Community Development Section!

The 2017 edition of Brandon’s “Music in the Park” summer programming kicks off in Princess Park on Tuesday, June 6th at 7 p.m., with a performance from CP Express, a dynamic and ever-changing ensemble group from Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School. Weekly performances from some of Western Manitoba's finest performing artists will run in Princess Park each Tuesday evening until August 22nd.  All shows begin at 7 p.m. and the public is encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket for outdoor music-listening comfort.  A full lineup of this year’s scheduled Music in the Parks performances can be found at www.brandon.ca/music.  

Meanwhile, Brandon’s Summer Lights Concert series is also back for another year in Princess Park, offering FREE performances from high-calibre regional and national talent one Thursday a month through the months of June, July and August. Confirmed as the headliner for the 2017 Summer Lights Concert Series kick-off on Thursday, June 15th is Alberta-based singer-songwriter JJ Shiplett, with Brandon’s own The 204 set as the opening act. Start time is 7 p.m. in Princess Park, with a rain location of Central United Church. As always, the unique concert series also serves up complimentary fresh bannock and local honey to those in attendance! Stay tuned for future announcements on July and August’s Summer Lights Concert Series performers, along with the much-anticipated line-up for September’s all-day Summer Lights Music Festival.
