City of Brandon Residential Street Sweeping Program to Start April 18

April 13, 2017

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brandon, MB – The City of Brandon’s Streets and Roads Department would like to advise the public that its spring sweeping program to clean streets and boulevards of winter debris will move into residential areas next week.

Street sweeping operations have already begun on major arterial and collector routes in the past number of days. Crews have currently scheduled sweeping along Princess Avenue and Rosser Avenue from 18th Street to First Street, beginning at 12 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18th.

Weater-dependant, crews will then move through residential areas one by one using the residential zones established in its winter snow-clearing operations, beginning with Residential Zone “G” on Tuesday morning. A refresher on residential zones can be found here.

The public is asked to watch for temporary “No Parking” signage and park off-street wherever possible. As per City of Brandon Traffic By-law No. 5463 (Part 3, Section 37), vehicles parked in these signed areas may be subject to a ticket and/or tow.

As the residential spring street sweeping program includes the process of sweeping off boulevards and City right-of-ways (the first few feet of lawn if there is no boulevard), residents can minimize the potential for any property damage by clearly flagging any underground sprinkler systems that may be present.

More information about the City of Brandon’s Spring Street Cleanup Program is available by calling the Streets and Roads Department at 204-729-2290.
