City-wide Residential Snow Plowing Efforts To Begin Tonight (March 8th)

March 8, 2017

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The City of Brandon Streets and Roads Department wishes to update the public on its snow plowing and sanding efforts following this week’s blizzard activity.

Crews continue their focus today on punching through large drifts on major thoroughfares. Sanding trucks are following graders to address icy patches and other “hot spots” like intersections or steep inclines.

Beginning tonight at 8 p.m., the department will begin a City-wide residential snow plowing effort. Overnight, crews will be focused in Residential Zone “F”. Once complete, crews will move to Residential Zone “A” on the morning of Thursday, March 9th, after which scheduling for additional residential zones will be announced. Scheduling of this work for the remainder of the City will take into consideration refuse and recycling pickup in the residential areas.

It is important to note that residential areas will not be signed with “No Parking” signage prior to plowing, with the exception of the core area due to the narrow width of the streets. Residents and motorists can greatly aid the overall process by watching for snow-clearing equipment in their neighbourhood and endeavoring to park off-street until clearing is complete. Up-to-date snow clearing activity can also be tracked by visiting the City of Brandon’s Online Snow Clearing map at http://gis.brandon.ca/snowclearing/.

Residents with specific street clearing questions are asked to call the City of Brandon Streets and Roads Department at 204-729-2285 or 204-729-2290.
