City of Brandon Snow Plowing & Sanitation Operations for Tuesday, March 7th

March 7, 2017

The City of Brandon Operational Services Division wishes to update the public on its response to the ongoing weather conditions.

City plows are out clearing major streets today; however, there are NO plans for a City-wide plowing campaign at this time. Plowing will focus on all of Princess Avenue & all of Rosser Avenue tonight. As such, an overnight parking ban will be in place along the entire stretch of Princess Avenue and the entire stretch of Rosser Avenue from midnight tonight until 8 a.m. Wednesday. Full information on City of Brandon Snow Route Overnight Parking Bans can be found here: http://www.brandon.ca/snow-routes

For the safety of the City of Brandon’s Sanitation Section drivers and for the general public, the decision has been made to halt all TUESDAY REFUSE/RECYCLING COLLECTION. We will NOT be making up this missed collection day. However, any resident who cannot wait until next Tuesday for regular refuse/recycling collection, please bring your bin or bins directly to the Eastview Landfill, where the $2 entrance fee for residential loads under 500 Kg will be waived for you. Full hours of operation at the Eastview Landfill can be found here: http://www.brandon.ca/sanitation/landfill/landfill-overview
We currently have crews out plowing backlanes where possible, and weather-dependant, Wednesday refuse/recycling collection is scheduled to proceed as per normal.

Brandon Transit continues to operate as per normal today; however, routes may be running behind due to the road conditions. Brandon Transit users are encouraged to call 204-729-2300 prior to departing for their destination to check on route status. More information can also be found here: http://brandontransit.ca/contact-info

The City of Brandon’s Community Services Department also wishes to advise that due to these recent weather events, it will be closing the public skating oval in the area of McGregor Avenue and the sledding run at Hanbury Hill for the rest of the winter, effective at 4 p.m. TODAY. All warming shacks will be locked and lighting/music will be turned off for the rest of the season.
