City-wide Residential Snow-Clearing Efforts Have Begun

February 10, 2017

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Due to the weather conditions and snowfall experienced of late, the City of Brandon Streets & Roads Department has made the decision to undertake a City-wide residential snow-plowing campaign, beginning TODAY, Friday, February 10th.

Crews have already begun work in Residential Zone “C”, and should have that zone completed on Saturday. From there, crews will then move into Residential Zone “A” and complete it, on to Residential Zone “B” and complete it, and will work their way through the remaining residential zones, one by one as they are completed.

Residents are encouraged to visit the City’s online Snow Clearing Map (snowmap.brandon.ca) to determine which zone they live in. Due to the tight scheduling associated with the clearing event, streets will not be signed with NO PARKING signs. Therefore, it is important for residents to watch the City of Brandon’s online Snow Clearing Map for updated information on when plows are anticipated to be in their neighbourhood.

When in residential zones, crews will be attempting to cut down some of the larger snowpiles piled at intersections where visibility may currently be impeded. However, snow will not be hauled away from neighbourhoods at this time, as the Department’s efforts remain on plowing all City streets in a timely fashion. The City of Brandon asks for the community’s cooperation as it completes this latest round of snow plowing, after which attention will return to hauling snowpiles away from neighbourhoods.

For more information on residential snow clearing, residents may contact the City of Brandon’s Streets & Roads Department at 204-729-2285.
