Appointment to the City of Brandon Planning Commission

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT City Council will be considering one (1) appointment for a three (3) year term to the City of Brandon Planning Commission with the term of office to expire March 31, 2018.

The duties and responsibilities of the Planning Commission will be carried out in accordance with the Province of Manitoba Planning Act and the City of Brandon By-law No. 6843. The Commission consists of five (5) members. The main responsibilities of the Commission include:

  1. Conduct public hearings and make decisions on:
    • variance applications to the City Zoning By-Law
    • conditional use applications.
  2. Conduct public hearings and make recommendations to City Council on:
    • zoning by-law amendments
    • zoning by-law text amendments
    • some subdivision applications
    • closing of public reserve land
    • declarations of obsolete plan of subdivision

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Serving members of the Brandon City Council or Brandon and Area Planning District Board are not eligible to apply.
  • You must be 18 years of age or older and a resident of the City of Brandon for a minimum of 12 months in order to apply.

Application forms are available in the City Clerk’s Office, 2nd Floor, City Hall, 410 – 9th Street or online here. Application forms must be returned to the above office by 4:00 p.m., Thursday April 23, 2015.
