November 25, 2016

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brandon, MB – Brandon Mayor Rick Chrest will lead a passionate and motivated team of “Brandon Boosters” to the Manitoba Legislature on Monday, November 28th with a clear message that Brandon is open for business in all facets of the community.

Dubbed “Team Brandon”, a contingent of approximately 50 individuals representing more than a dozen Brandon institutions and community organizations will board a bus Monday morning and travel from Brandon to Manitoba’s Legislative Building, where they plan to engage in discussion with a variety of elected Members and provincial department representatives. In addition to scheduled meetings with a number of Provincial Ministers, “Team Brandon” representatives will make themselves available at a promotional booth in the Rotunda of the Legislative Building, at which Mayor Chrest will also host a sponsored coffee break following the day’s Question Period.

“As Manitoba’s second-largest city, I truly believe Brandon is a microcosm of Winnipeg, not only in terms of the services and amenities we offer our residents, but also the challenges we face as a growing urban municipality,” said Mayor Chrest. “So, bringing ‘Team Brandon’ to the Legislature is just our way of ensuring that all provincial decision-makers and, really, all Manitobans know who we are and what we can offer as a partner at their table.”

Joining Mayor Chrest and various City of Brandon senior administration as part of “Team Brandon” will be representatives from Assiniboine Community College, Brandon University, the Brandon School Division, Brandon Riverbank Inc., Brandon First, the Brandon Friendship Centre, the Brandon Urban Aboriginal Peoples’ Council, the Keystone Centre, Brandon Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation, Renaissance Brandon, the Brandon Chamber of Commerce, Brandon Area Realtors, and the Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba.

“We are confident this trip will serve as a solid building block for future engagement between all participating organizations and the new Provincial Government,” concluded Chrest. “’Team Brandon’ is ready to invade the Legislature!”

Chrest first announced his “Team Brandon” strategy during his 2nd annual State of the City Address hosted by the Brandon Chamber of Commerce in May of 2016.
