Forthcoming Traffic Detours For First Street Bridge Project

December 18, 2015

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On behalf of the Province of Manitoba, the City of Brandon wishes to inform residents of the following traffic changes relating to the First Street Bridge construction preparation.

The Province of Manitoba intends to have the median curb in the area of the bridge completely removed by Friday, December 18th. On Monday, December 21st, pre-cast concrete barriers in the area of the bridge will be installed. On Tuesday, December 22nd,  the detour and switching of traffic will be complete and bridge work will start.  The Province of Manitoba will be erecting electronic message boards to the north and southbound approaches of the First Street Bridge, advising same. During this busy Christmas travel season, all motorists travelling in the area and/or accessing the First Street Bridge are asked to drive with extra caution and watch for detour signage and on-site workers.

Landmark Planning & Design Inc. has been contracted by the Province of Manitoba to oversee this project, with the bridge work itself being conducted by PCL Construction. A detailed overview of the First Street Bridge project can be found on Landmark Planning & Design Inc.’s website here: http://landmarkplanning.ca/project/brandon-first-street-bridge.php.
