Management and staff at Brandon’s Community Sportsplex wish to advise the public that the track surface at the facility’s UCT Athletic Field is now closed for the summer and will be unavailable to the public until August 31st.
The track’s rubberized surface is being resurfaced in advance of the Legion National Youth Track & Field Championships, which will be hosted at the facility in early August of 2017 and 2018. The tender for this work was approved by Brandon City Council in early May of this year. For the safety of all, runners and the general public are asked to stay off the track surface and away from the construction area for the duration of the summer.
Management and staff at the Sportsplex also wish to advise the public that the facility’s renovated pool is scheduled to re-open to the public on Monday, July 4th. The pool was closed in June of 2015 for extensive renovations, including the provision of new pool tile, paint, HVAC and air handling systems, as well as new pool system infrastructure.
It is also anticipated the facility’s ice rink will be re-opened at the same time as the pool on July 4th, as it is currently closed for a period of maintenance.
