Traffic Lane Changes on First Street North

October 22, 2015

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On behalf of the Province of Manitoba, the City of Brandon would like to advise all motorists that changes to traffic flow on First Street North, in the area of Princess Avenue stretching north to Kirkcaldy Drive, are being put in place, beginning at 4 p.m. TODAY.

Work by contractors is being undertaken to build a temporary road that will serve as a detour when the redevelopment of the First Street Bridge begins later this year.

As such, the median lanes on First Street North, both northbound and southbound, from Princess Avenue north to Kirkcaldy Drive, will be closed to traffic as of 4 p.m, October 22nd, 2015 (TODAY). Traffic will be reduced to ONE LANE ONLY each way with a speed restriction of 50 kilometers per hour. Northbound left turn lanes will be made available at Princess Avenue and Pacific Avenue. More information about the traffic flow change can be found on the City of Brandon website here: http://roadclosures.brandon.ca/RoadClosureDetails.aspx?id=146.

The City of Brandon, Province of Manitoba, and the project contractor all appreciate the public’s cooperation and patience as preparations for the First Street Bridge redevelopment are completed.
