Fall Street Sweeping Efforts Underway in Brandon

October 19, 2015

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brandon, MB – The City of Brandon Streets and Roads Department wishes to advise the public that its annual fall street sweeping operation is underway in various neighbourhoods across Brandon.

Work to clear catch basins of tree leaves, seeds and other debris prior to the winter season began in early October. Sweepers are out daily, focusing on areas and neighbourhoods with known drainage issues or with heavy tree cover. Weather-permitting, the entire City will be swept prior to the onset of winter.

Residents are not required to move their vehicles off of the street when street sweeping crews are in their neighbourhood, but can greatly assist the process by refraining from raking leaves from their yards and boulevards into the streets or on top of storm sewer catch basins. Once raked, yard debris should be properly bagged and either placed in your residential Green Cart or taken to any one of the City’s yard waste drop-off depots listed here.

The Streets and Roads Department is also continuing its pothole patching program as weather permits. To report a problem pothole on City streets, residents can call the City of Brandon’s Pothole Hotline at 729-2200 (the line is monitored for issues to be addressed, but calls are not returned) or fill out an online form by clicking here.

Residents seeking more information on seasonal street work conducted by the City of Brandon Streets and Roads Department can call 204-729-2284.
