Brandon, MB – The City of Brandon Sanitation Department wishes to remind participants of its Green Cart residential organics pick-up program that a weekly pick-up schedule is now in place to aid with fall clean-up and will remain in place until the collection week ending Friday, November 6th.
Participants are asked to have their compost bins placed out for collection no later than 6 a.m. on their scheduled pick-up day to ensure timely pick-up.
Weather-permitting, the Green Cart collection program will start up again in late-spring of 2016. However, Green Cart program participants are encouraged to continue placing all kitchen waste and other accepted organics into their Green Bin during the winter months. If your bin fills up prior to the start of the 2016 program, you can empty it at any one of the City’s compost drop-off depots listed here or by taking your bin directly to the Eastview Landfill.
The City of Brandon Sanitation Department is targeting the diversion of 1,500 tonnes of organic material away from the landfill through this year’s program! Applications are still being accepted for new program participants in 2016. More information about the voluntary program can be found on the City of Brandon website here or by calling 204-729-2281.
