Economic Development Brandon Launches ‘Business Success’ Profile Series

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brandon, MB – Business thrives in Brandon, and that’s exactly what an intriguing business success profile series launched today by Economic Development Brandon has set out to prove.

The business profile series, developed by staff in the City of Brandon’s Economic Development and Corporate Communications Departments, has been launched at www.economicdevelopmentbrandon.com. Over the course of the series, a number of local businesses will be profiled via “quick-read” write-ups on the Economic Development Brandon website which not only highlight a particular business’s corporate portfolio, but also what makes it unique and its impact on the local and global economies.

City of Brandon Director of Economic Development Sandy Trudel says the idea of profiling both major employers and niche businesses is an important piece of the Recognition and Respect component within the City of Brandon’s economic growth strategy, “Prosperity by Design”.

“There is such great diversity, depth, and breadth in our existing business community, but the successes of those already in Brandon often get lost in the day-to-day activities of our economy,” says Trudel. “With the launch of this business profile series, not only will it provide appropriate recognition to our City’s success stories, but it will also show our community what is truly possible in Brandon. Success breeds success, so the more we can recognize and celebrate local business, the better it will be for Brandon.”

Trudel notes that the first two local businesses featured in the profile series, Behlen Industries LP and B.O.B. Headquarters Inc., are contrasting successes. Behlen Industries LP has steadily expanded the reach of its steel building manufacturing company into the industrial, commercial, recreational, and institutional markets. Meanwhile, B.O.B. Headquarters Inc. has aggressively grown from a modest local giftware retail storefront into an innovative franchise, complete with a wholesaling arm, and was a recent recipient of a Brandon Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Award.

“Brandon is city that continually punches above its’ weight. While we may be small in population, our Prairie roots have taught us to be innovative and make big things happen,” adds Brandon Chamber of Commerce President Jordan Ludwig. “The businesses profiled in this series are truly world-class, and that’s something that we, as citizens of Brandon, should be proud of. It’s important that we celebrate success and let those that invest in our community know we recognize their impact in order to encourage additional investment, while simultaneously letting the world know that we’re open for business and ready to embrace new challenges.”

Additional business profiles will be published and promoted regularly in the coming months via the Economic Development Brandon website at http://www.economicdevelopmentbrandon.com/business-profiles.
